Advantages of Membership

The Transcultural Psychiatry Section of WPA has been functioning and growing steadily for over 25 years now. The main advantages of membership are; 1) to develop and maintain contacts among colleagues around the world who are contributing to the field of transcultural psychiatry, and 2) to keep up with current clinical, educational and research developments in the field by participating in the international conferences organized by the Section at least twice each year in different parts of the world. These conferences are often jointly sponsored by national and international organizations in cultural psychiatry. They are designed to stimulate the kind of informal interchange that encourages collaboration with colleagues around the world. The Section is especially eager to encourage members from countries with limited resources to participate in Section activities, enabling them to present their work at our conferences and establish working relationships with colleagues in other countries who share their professional interests.

Communication among Section members is enhanced by their having access to our Section website, with links to other resources and cultural psychiatry organizations, and to our Section newsletter.
